Home EV Charging Done Properly

More eastern Melbourne homeowners are switching to electric vehicles — and most quickly realise a standard power point isn't the right way to charge one. A dedicated hardwired EV home charger is safer, faster, and better for your car's battery.

We install EV chargers at homes across Lilydale, Mooroolbark, Croydon, Mount Evelyn, and the wider eastern suburbs. Every install includes a switchboard assessment, a dedicated circuit, and commissioning of the charger unit — so everything is set up correctly from day one.

  • Faster charging — most EVs fully charged overnight with a dedicated hardwired charger
  • Safer — dedicated circuit with correct breaker sizing, no overloaded circuits
  • Better for battery longevity compared to regular power point charging
  • Compliant with AS/NZS 3000 wiring rules and energy provider requirements
  • Can integrate with solar and off-peak tariffs to reduce charging cost

What We Install

We work with all major EV charger brands and can advise on the right unit for your setup.

Home Wall Chargers

Dedicated hardwired EV home chargers mounted in your garage or on an external wall. Models include Tesla Wall Connector, Wallbox Pulsar Plus, Zappi, Sigenergy, Sevr, BYD, GWM, Ocular, Fronius Wattpilot, and other AS/NZS-certified units.

Dedicated EV Circuit

Every install gets its own dedicated circuit run from your switchboard — correct breaker sizing, correct cable rating, proper earthing. No sharing with other loads.

Switchboard Assessment

We check your existing switchboard before any install. Older boards may need an upgrade to safely handle the added load — we'll tell you upfront, no surprises.

Solar-Ready Setup

If you have solar (or plan to), we can position and configure your charger to maximise self-consumption during daylight hours. Works with Zappi, Fronius, Sigenergy, Goodwe, Sungrow, and other solar-aware chargers.

Three-Phase Installs

Have three-phase power? We can install three-phase EV chargers for maximum charge speeds — ideal for larger EVs or commercial property situations.

Commissioning & Setup

We don't just wire it in and leave. We commission the unit, walk you through the settings, connect it to your app where applicable, and confirm it's charging correctly before we go.

What Does an EV Charger Install Cost?

Every house is different, so we quote each job individually rather than guess on a price that might not fit yours.

Straightforward Install

Garage close to switchboard, no cable run issues, existing board is adequate. Just labour, circuit, and connections. Charger unit is separate.

With Cable Run

Longer cable run from switchboard, external conduit, or installation on the side or rear of the home. Still no board upgrade required.

With Switchboard Upgrade

Older fuse board needs upgrading before we can safely add the EV circuit. Board upgrade, EV circuit, and charger install, all in one visit.

Call or send an enquiry and we'll assess your switchboard and give you a clear, written quote before any work starts.

EV Charger Installation — Common Questions

Can I just use a regular power point to charge my EV?

Technically yes, but it's slow (usually 8–12 hours for a full charge on a 10A socket) and not ideal for daily use. A standard power point also isn't designed for continuous high-load charging overnight. A dedicated hardwired EV home charger on its own circuit is safer, faster, and better for your battery in the long run.

Which EV charger brands do you install?

We install all major brands certified to Australian standards, including Tesla Wall Connector, Wallbox Pulsar Plus, Zappi, Sigenergy, Sevr, BYD, GWM, Ocular, Goodwe, Evnex, Sungrow, Fronius Wattpilot, and others. If you've already purchased a unit, we can install it — just let us know the make and model when you book.

Do I need to upgrade my switchboard first?

Not always. If your board is relatively modern with circuit breakers and RCDs, we can often add the EV circuit without any upgrades. If you have an older fuse-based board, we'll need to upgrade it first — we'll assess and quote this when we come out.

Can my EV charger work with solar?

Yes. Some charger models (like Zappi, Fronius Wattpilot, Sigenergy, Goodwe, and Sungrow) have built-in solar diversion — they automatically use excess solar generation to charge your car before exporting to the grid. We can set this up and configure it so it works with your existing solar inverter.

How long does the installation take?

Most straightforward installs are done in 2–4 hours. If a switchboard upgrade is required, allow a full day. We'll give you a realistic timeframe when we book the job.

Do you service apartments or units?

Apartment EV charger installs can be more complex due to shared electrical infrastructure and body corporate rules. We can assess and quote these on a case-by-case basis — call to discuss your situation.
